Something Unique About Me:: I have taught only 8 years, because I spent many years before raising my own family. I have 3 grown children, 2 daughters who have graduated from university and 1 son who is presently serving in the military and will soon be deployed. As this concerns me greatly, I am very thankful to have these students to enjoy and forget my own worries.

Brief Description of My Students:: My students are in the 11th grade, and live and go to an urban high school in the big city of Chicago. These particular students, represent a group of higher academic level within our school population because they are a part of the rigorous International Baccalaureate Program.

Description of the Town or City My Students Come From:: The city my students come from is Chicago,specifically the "East Side". Chicago is a city divided by many unique neighborhoods with individual cultures. Chicago is one of the 3 largest cities in America. The area where my students live, the East Side, is challenged by the presence of many gangs, occasional violence, teen pregnancy and predominantly low family incomes. All these factors affect my students, yet they are positive and resilient.
