Brief Description of My Students:
My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. They range in age from 11 to 14 years. Although they live in the United States, several of the students or their parents were born in another country, some in Central or South America. Many of the students speak Engish in school and another language, often Spanish, to their parents at home.
Description of the Town or City My Students Come From:
My students come from Danbury, Connecticut. Danbury was once the hat-making capital of the United States. That industry no longer exists because it is not fashionable to wear those types of hats now. Our city has a mall, a railroad station, a post office, a library, banks, schools, and a busy main street. Immigrants from other countries, especially Central and South America, have settled in Danbury.
