Brief Description of My Students:
Completely diverse-economically, ethnically. Our school has a little bit of a lot of different kinds of people.
Description of the Town or City My Students Come From:
Norwalk is a coastal city, part of the megalopolis that stretches out across the eastern coast of the United States. We are about an hour out of Manhattan, so we are a part of Connecticut with a strong connection to New York. We are a poor city, surrounded by rich towns. We are the place where the social services are--the methadone maintenance center, the homeless shelter, the soup kitchen. Norwalk is a tourist/visitor destination with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars. You can enjoy Brazilian, Jamaican, Peruvian, Spanish, Thai, Venezuelan, Indian, Northern Italian, Japanese, Chinese and French food--to name a few. There is also a lot of "culture" in Norwalk, dance, music and visual arts.
