Brief Description of My Students:
I have a total of 51 students on my team and about 350 sixth grade students in the school. The students are approximately 12 years old. The team is a good mix of boys and girls. I have students from many culture backgrounds and some of my students speak more than one language.
Description of the Town or City My Students Come From:
North Andover is a fairly affluent town approximately 45 minutes north of Boston, Massachusetts and about 20 minutes south of Salem, New Hampshire. The homes range from condos and apartment complexes to very large homes with sprawling lawns and built in pools. There are some historic homes and a town common. The students also have a Youth Center which is a place for students of all the schools to meet, play games, and have social events.
The students from North Andover Middle School have completed their artwork. I must say it was a challenge to encourage the students to create large images so they could be easily seen. The follow-up discussions regarding the values and depiction of water were very informative. We are looking forward to hearing from our partner country real soon!
Students at the North Andover Middle School, from North Andover MA are working together to create their art work. We are struggling to meet the deadline, but have reworked our schedule to fit time in. The students on teams 6C and 6F have had some very interesting conversation regarding values and our culture. We are all looking forward to reviewing the final products!
